Earthquake Safety Information
The best way to protect yourself in most situations is to Drop, Cover, and Hold On. Most earthquake-related injuries and deaths are caused by falling or flying objects (such as TVs, lamps, glass, or bookcases), or by being knocked to the ground. This why it is important to immediately get on the ground and protect your head, neck, and vital organs.
Participating in a ShakeOut drill is an excellent way to practice and build the "muscle memory" that will help you respond during an earthquake. Know what to do and you will help keep yourself, your family, and your community safe.
